Server Suspension

 

When you lease a Shoutcast server, you are given an IP address and IP port number to use.  You are also given the maximum bitrate that is allowed on your server, based on the package you select.  For example, we have servers with the following broadcast speeds:  64kbps or128kbps

If you lease a server with, for instance, a 128kpbs speed, you may stream at that speed or any speed lower (24, 32, 48, 56, 64, 80, 96, 112).

If, for example, you leased a server with a 64kbps speed and try to stream at a higher speed (80, 96, 112, 128, or higher), your server will automatically be turned off and suspended.  If this happens, you must open up a support ticket, and include the following information:

  1. Server IP address
  2. Port number
  3. Server Password
  4. Assigned bitrate for the server

We will then unsuspend your server. Keep in mind that multiple instances of over streaming may result in longer suspensions, or termination of your account with no refund.

A couple of reasons why over-streaming can happen:

  • You or a remote DJ mistakenly streams at the wrong speed
  • You are relaying another stream which is broadcast at a higher speed

Be aware that unsuspending a server can take up to 24 hours (usually less) from the time we receive your ticket requesting a server to be unsuspended. With that said, please comply with your bitrate limit.
