Mixxx Audio Is Too Quiet

Troubleshoot a Mixxx stream that sounds noticeably quieter than other stations without simply turning every gain control to maximum.

Watch the Master Meter

Play typical program material and watch the master output. The goal is a strong, clean signal with reasonable headroom rather than constant maximum level.

Check Individual Track Gain

If only some songs are quiet, the problem may be inconsistent source mastering or track gain. Compare several tracks before changing the entire broadcast chain.

Check the Master Level

If everything is consistently quiet, verify the master output level and audio routing. Do not compensate for a routing problem by applying excessive gain.

Keep the Stream Clean

Excessive gain can create clipping and distortion. Loudness should be achieved with sensible gain staging rather than redlining the master meter.
