Mixxx — Complete SHOUTcast Setup

Set up Mixxx to broadcast live to your digiSTREAM SHOUTcast server. This guide covers the connection settings, MP3 encoder, stream information, and how to start broadcasting.

Before You Begin

Have your digiSTREAM server hostname, broadcast port, and source/DJ password available. Use the connection information supplied with your station.

Open Live Broadcasting Settings

  1. Open Preferences in Mixxx.
  2. Select Live Broadcasting.
  3. Under the server connection settings, select the SHOUTcast option appropriate for your server.

Enter the Server Information

SettingWhat to Enter
HostYour digiSTREAM server hostname or IP address.
PortYour digiSTREAM broadcast port.

Configure the Stream

Enter your stream name, website, description, and genre as appropriate. For SHOUTcast streaming, Mixxx uses MP3 encoding.

Start Broadcasting

Click OK, then use Options → Enable Live Broadcasting. When the connection succeeds, Mixxx will send your live mix to the SHOUTcast server.

digiSTREAM Tip: If Mixxx refuses the connection, verify the host, port, login, and password before changing audio settings.
