SAM Broadcaster Cannot Connect to the Server

When SAM Broadcaster cannot establish a connection to your digiSTREAM server, the cause is usually one of a small number of configuration or network problems.

Verify the Server Address

Make sure the hostname or IP address is correct. Check for typing errors and make sure you are using the server address supplied for your service.

Verify the Port

The streaming port must be the exact port assigned to your service. Do not substitute the web control-panel port or another service port.

Verify the Password

Enter the streaming password exactly as supplied. A password mismatch can prevent the encoder from authenticating.

Check the Encoder Type

Make sure SAM Broadcaster is configured for the SHOUTcast server type used by your service.

Check Your Internet Connection

Make sure the computer running SAM Broadcaster has a stable Internet connection and is not being blocked by a local firewall or security application.

Look Up the Error Code

SAM Broadcaster often provides a numerical error code when a connection fails. Search the Knowledge Base using that number for more specific troubleshooting.
