What does "Server Status: Server is currently down." mean?

SHOUTcast servers running SHOUTcast 1.9.8 will display “Server Status: Server is currently down.” when there is no DJ connected and streaming audio. Contrary to what the message would imply, the server is in fact online or “up” and ready to accept a connection from a DJ.

If a server is offline, the page would not load. If this happenes, it's possible that routine maintenance work is being performed or an indication that a potentially more serious problem is occurring.

If the server is online and a DJ is broadcasting, the status will read as “Server Status: Server is currently up and public.”
